Biography
After graduating in with a BA in the History of Science from the University of King’s College in Halifax, I started my own business teaching yoga. Many of my yoga students would ask me for advice on how to use yoga to help with their chronic pain, and that inspired me to learn as much as I could about how to make my yoga classes therapeutic as well as inclusive of different abilities, mobility levels, and health challenges.
I first started thinking about pursuing physiotherapy as a career during one of my advanced yoga trainings, when a pelvic health physiotherapist did a guest lecture about the muscles of the pelvic floor. I immediately felt so fascinated by these small pelvic muscles that most people are hardly aware of, and yet which have a huge impact on quality of life. That experience planted the seed for me to go on to get my Masters in Physiotherapy from Dalhousie University.
As a physiotherapist today, I am lucky enough to get to pursue my passions for both chronic pain management and pelvic health. I have specialized training in pelvic physiotherapy and can treat a wide range of pelvic conditions including urinary incontinence and pelvic pain, in individuals of all genders.
My experience also includes treating individuals living with persistent pain as part of the allied health team of the Pain Management Unit in Halifax, NS, and co-teaching their Pain Self-Management Program. In my spare time I love to sew, knit, boulder, and spend time with my cat, Ted.
