Biography
Makena Spanier is a passionate physiotherapist with a Master of Physical Therapy (MPT) from the University of British Columbia (UBC) and a Bachelor’s in Sport and Fitness
Leadership from Camosun College. Growing up in Victoria, BC, Makena developed a deep love for the outdoors, enjoying hiking, fishing, and camping. These early experiences
fostered a lifelong appreciation for physical activity and its positive impact on health and
well-being.
A former competitive gymnast, Makena brings a unique perspective to her work,
understanding the physical demands of high-performance athletes. She is skilled in helping athletes prevent injuries, recover from setbacks, and optimize their performance. This background also informs her approach to rehabilitation, ensuring athletes receive targeted, effective treatment.
Makena loves working with individuals of all ages, from children to older adults, helping them stay healthy, active, and achieve their movement goals. She believes that everyone is made to move, regardless of age or fitness level. Whether guiding a child through their first steps in rehabilitation, assisting an adult with improving fitness, or helping an older adult maintain mobility, she is committed to creating individualized treatment plans tailored to each person’s needs.
