Biography
Jarryd Reed is a registered Kinesiologist and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist who blends rehabilitation principles with strength and conditioning to help people move with confidence again.
Jarryd’s approach is grounded, transparent, and collaborative. He believes people feel their best when they understand why they are doing something, not just what they are doing. His clients often describe him as adaptable and attentive, someone who meets them where they are on a given day while still providing structure, direction, and the right amount of challenge. He isn’t rigid with plans, but he is intentional. There is always a goal, a pathway forward, and clear steps to get there.
With a background in both kinesiology and strength and conditioning, Jarryd integrates rehab and performance rather than treating them as separate entities. Whether someone is recovering from injury, returning to daily activities, or looking to improve athletic performance, his goal is to build resilience, strength, and confidence without pushing past safe and evidence-based limits. He believes that some discomfort is a normal part of adaptation, and that pain does not always mean damage, but progress always requires patience and trust in the process.
Jarryd has worked with a wide range of individuals, from youth athletes learning foundational lifts, to weekend warriors and golfers, to older adults working toward independence in daily life. He also has experience supporting individuals recovering from motor vehicle accidents and managing persistent pain. He is especially drawn to diverse and challenging cases, and prides himself on being honest when something is unfamiliar, then taking the time to research, learn, and build the best possible plan for that individual.
Originally from a small town in rural Alberta, Jarryd grew up playing and participating in nearly every sport he could, including soccer, volleyball, badminton, track and field, hockey, lacrosse, climbing, and snowboarding. That diversity shaped his belief that being well-rounded and adaptable is just as valuable as specializing early. Sport gave him confidence, resilience, and a deep appreciation for movement as a lifelong skill.
Jarryd moved to Vancouver Island to further his education and quickly fell in love with the Island’s outdoor culture and active lifestyle. Being able to bike, hike, or get outside between classes was a turning point, and that connection to nature continues to influence how he approaches health and recovery today. Outside the clinic, he enjoys mountain biking, gravel biking, hiking, freediving, climbing, and snowboarding, and is currently training toward a marathon.
Recently, Jarryd spent a year traveling while coaching online, working with people across different countries and environments. That experience reinforced his belief that movement, strength, and confidence are universal, and that effective coaching adapts to the person in front of you, not the setting.
At Parkway Physiotherapy, Jarryd aims to create an environment where people feel supported, challenged, and optimistic about their future. He wants clients to feel comfortable, understood, and confident that they are moving in the right direction. His goal is not quick fixes, but helping people become stronger, more capable, and more confident in what their bodies can do.
