Why Choose Parkway for Massage Therapy in Victoria

  • Registered Massage Therapists, not generalists. Every therapist on our team is registered with the College of Complementary Health Professionals of BC, with thousands of hours of clinical training behind them.
  • Direct billing. We direct bill ICBC and most extended health plans in BC, so you usually walk out with minimal to no out-of-pocket cost.
  • Convenient Victoria location. Our Tuscany Village clinic sits at the corner of Shelbourne and McKenzie, with free parking and easy access from Gordon Head, Saanich, Oak Bay, Fairfield, UVic, and downtown Victoria.
  • Extended hours. Early mornings, evenings, and Saturday appointments are available so massage therapy fits around your life, not the other way around.

Techniques Our RMTs Use

  • Swedish Massage
Flowing, rhythmic techniques that improve circulation, calm the nervous system, and ease general muscle tension. A great entry point if you’re new to massage or working through stress.
  • Deep Tissue Massage
Slower, more targeted pressure that reaches the deeper layers of muscle and fascia. Effective for stubborn “knots” and chronic tightness. Effective treatment doesn’t require pain — your comfort always comes first, and communication with your RMT is key.
  • Myofascial Release
Sustained pressure applied to the connective tissue (fascia) that wraps around your muscles, helping restore mobility and reduce pulling sensations across the body.
  • Trigger Point Therapy
Precise pressure on hyper-sensitive spots within a muscle that refer pain elsewhere (think: a knot between your shoulder blades that triggers a headache).
  • Sports & Therapeutic Massage
Treatment specifically aimed at the demands of training and competition — pre-event prep, post-event recovery, and injury rehabilitation.
  • Relaxation Massage
When the goal is to downshift the nervous system, lower stress, and sleep better. Recovery happens when the body feels safe enough to do it.

Initial Visit: 60 minutes
Subsequent Visits: 60 minutes

Each session is carefully structured to address your specific needs. During the initial visit, we take time to assess your health history and goals to create a personalized treatment plan. Subsequent visits typically last for 60 minutes, ensuring you receive effective care tailored to your progress.

While no extensive preparation is required, here are a few things to keep in mind before your massage session:

  • Wear Comfortable Clothing: For your convenience, wear loose, comfortable clothing. If needed, you will be provided with a towel or sheet during the session for modesty.
  • Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water before and after your session to help your body release toxins and stay hydrated.
  • Communicate Your Needs: Let your Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) know about any areas of tension, pain, or specific concerns. This will help them customize the treatment to meet your needs.
  • Arrive a Few Minutes Early: Arriving a bit early will give you time to relax and fill out any necessary forms if it’s your first visit.

By following these simple steps, you’ll get the most out of your massage therapy experience.

Massage therapy should not cause pain, though some discomfort might be felt depending on the technique used. It’s important to communicate with your Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) throughout the session. If something feels too intense or uncomfortable, let your therapist know so they can adjust the pressure to suit your needs.
For certain therapeutic techniques like deep tissue or sports massage, you may feel some soreness as your muscles are worked on to release tension. This is normal and should subside after the session. Your therapist will ensure that the pressure is within your comfort level.
Remember, the goal of a massage is to help you relax and feel better, so don’t hesitate to speak up if something feels off.

If you’re not comfortable with deep pressure, that’s completely okay! Massage therapy can be tailored to your preferences, and your Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) can adjust the pressure to suit your needs. Whether you prefer light or moderate pressure, it’s important to communicate openly with your therapist about your comfort level.
During your session, if at any point the pressure feels too intense or uncomfortable, don’t hesitate to let your therapist know. They’ll adjust accordingly to ensure a relaxing and beneficial experience that meets your needs.
