Char Amelia

Registered Physiotherapist

MPT, BsKin

Biography

After completing her Bachelor of Kinesiology, Char went on to complete her Master of Physical Therapy through UBC’s Victoria cohort.

Before physiotherapy school, she spent 12 years working in aquatics, where she found she really enjoyed working with people, teaching fitness, providing first aid, and being part of her community. Combined with her own experiences with injuries and her belief in movement as medicine, physiotherapy felt like a natural fit.

Char enjoys getting to the root of a problem and figuring out what matters most to each person she works with. She believes good physiotherapy starts with asking questions, listening to the full story, and working together to make sense of what’s going on. Her approach combines education, exercise, hands-on treatment, and plenty of collaboration, with the goal of making you an active part of the decision-making process. She has a particular interest in orthopaedics, but is also excited to continue developing her skills in vestibular and neurological conditions.

Outside the Clinic

Growing up in Campbell River, Char has always loved being outdoors. These days, most of her hobbies revolve around one important question: “Can I bring my dog?” Bella joins her for as many hikes, climbing trips, and backpacking adventures as possible.

When they’re not outside, Char enjoys playing just about any sport or board games, and generally finding any excuse to have some fun!
